Recently the new design presentation of the Stratos III rocket was shown to all sponsors of this challenging project. Teesing sponsors several projects at the Delft University of Technology. We offer our engineering knowledge and products free of charge to the student teams of high tech projects as f.e. the Ecorunner and the Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering (DARE). For the DARE project we supply products (ball valves, Hy-lock couplings and non-return valves) that are mainly part of the engine of the rocket.
Features of the new STratos III
The new design, called the Stratos III, consists of a single stage rocket with a hybrid rocket engine, similar to the previous Stratos I and II. The engine will deliver an average thrust of about 14.2kN (20kN peak) for a burn time of 25 seconds.
Features of the Stratos III are:
- Total Weight: 329.4 kg
- Empty Weight: 104 kg
- Rocket Length: 8 m
- Other: Live streaming capabilities
Furthermore, several new innovations within DARE will be implemented in the Stratos design such as a composite structure and an active parachute deployment system. The goal is to beat the record of 32.3 km set by a German student team.
The launch date will be in the Summer of 2017.
Video of the Design presentation
“It should be possible to at least go to around 80 km, that is where most of the cases go and if we’re really luck we can go to 100 km but also if we’re really unlucky, we can only go to about 25 km.”
-Stijn Koehler, Chief Engineer of Stratos III-
The Delft Eco-Runner Team visited Teesing in Rijswijk. Teesing sponsors the team and advises it in the development of its technology. The Eco-Runner Team is participating in the Shell Eco-Marathon in 2018.
"As an expert in the field of high-quality connections Teesing supports teams of various technical universities in Holland with components and more importantly; knowledge and advice. Similarly, the Ecorunner Team of the Technical University of Delft, which has been participating in the Shell Eco Marathon Rotterdam for years.
Teesing sponsors the team behind the Hydrogen Powered Forze VI based on the Lotus Super 7 chassis, with Serto unions, hose nozzles, plugs, ptfe tubing and hose clamps..
