effect of partial discharge

APPLICATION

The ageing of stator windings in generators and electric motors results in an increase in partial discharge (particle discharge) by deterioration of the insulating process. If maintenance or repair are not performed on time damage or failure of the generator or electric motor can result.

Scientific studies illustrate the relationship between partial discharge and the development of ozone. It turns out there is a clear correlation in partial discharge and concentrations of ozone. With a partial discharge, a concentration of ozone was measured. Ozone was the cause of the damage to the motor or generator because it accelerated corrosion.

SAVE COSTS WITH AN OZONE MONITOR

In general, partial discharge monitoring is used. Because these monitors are expensive to purchase and use, only the most expensive generators will be equipped with these monitors. The risk of damage on less expensive generators thus remains. The ozone monitor detects partial discharges realtime in a cost-effective manner. By measuring ozone in a timely fashion, action can be taken to prevent failure and downtime. Monitoring results allow maintenance to be planned before there is damage from high partial discharge.

Series 930 ozone monitor

BENEFITS OF THE SERIES 930 OZONE MONITOR

Reasons to choose the Series 930 ozone monitor to measure partial discharge:

Flexible
Flexible use through various settings and different outputs, digital and/or analog. Sampling by hose supply with integrated pump on the Series 930

Multiple generators equipped
Ozone monitors are cost effective compared to PA monitors, allowing multiple generators to be equipped within the same budget.

Real-time data & alarms
Real-time measurement data and easy to configure alarm and control outputs via PC software for your PC, tablet and mobile phone.

Quality monitor
Sensor built in water-resistant and tamperproof housing that is easily installed.

✔ TIP: Download the series 930 brochure for more benefits and technical specifications.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When partial discharge occurs in electric motor/generators, electric discharges transform oxygen into ozone as a result of sufficient energy.

The Series 930 monitor measures ozone real-time. The monitor can be configured for trendwatching and limit exceedance.
